PairGrid also allows you to quickly draw a grid of small subplots using the same plot type to visualize data in each. map ( hexbin, "total_bill", "tip", extent = ) Plotting pairwise data relationships # FacetGrid ( tips, hue = "time", col = "time", height = 4 ) g. hexbin ( x, y, gridsize = 15, cmap = cmap, ** kwargs ) with sns. light_palette ( color, as_cmap = True ) plt. This function will just take a single vector of data for each facet:ĭef hexbin ( x, y, color, ** kwargs ): cmap = sns. Let’s look at minimal example of a function you can plot with. In most cases, it’s easiest to catch a generic dictionary of **kwargs and pass it along to the underlying plotting function. It must be able to accept color and label keyword arguments, and, ideally, it will do something useful with them. Internally, FacetGrid will pass a Series of data for each of the named positional arguments passed to FacetGrid.map(). It must accept the data that it plots in positional arguments. This will be true of functions in the matplotlib.pyplot namespace, and you can call () to get a reference to the current Axes if you want to work directly with its methods. It must plot onto the “currently active” matplotlib Axes. However, to work properly, any function you use must follow a few rules: You’re not limited to existing matplotlib and seaborn functions when using FacetGrid. set ( xlim = ( 0, 60 ), ylim = ( 0, 14 )) Using custom functions # FacetGrid ( tips, col = "smoker", margin_titles = True, height = 4 ) g. For example, say we wanted to examine differences between lunch and dinner in the tips dataset: These variables should be categorical or discrete, and then the data at each level of the variable will be used for a facet along that axis. The class is used by initializing a FacetGrid object with a dataframe and the names of the variables that will form the row, column, or hue dimensions of the grid. The first two have obvious correspondence with the resulting array of axes think of the hue variable as a third dimension along a depth axis, where different levels are plotted with different colors.Įach of relplot(), displot(), catplot(), and lmplot() use this object internally, and they return the object when they are finished so that it can be used for further tweaking. A FacetGrid can be drawn with up to three dimensions: row, col, and hue. The FacetGrid class is useful when you want to visualize the distribution of a variable or the relationship between multiple variables separately within subsets of your dataset. This chapter explains how the underlying objects work, which may be useful for advanced applications. They take care of some important bookkeeping that synchronizes the multiple plots in each grid. In most cases, you will want to work with those functions. The figure-level functions are built on top of the objects discussed in this chapter of the tutorial. Matplotlib offers good support for making figures with multiple axes seaborn builds on top of this to directly link the structure of the plot to the structure of your dataset. It allows a viewer to quickly extract a large amount of information about a complex dataset. This technique is sometimes called either “lattice” or “trellis” plotting, and it is related to the idea of “small multiples”. When exploring multi-dimensional data, a useful approach is to draw multiple instances of the same plot on different subsets of your dataset. ![]() In most cases, you should not choose Moment for new projects. The Moment team has discussed these issues at length. 4 alternatives to moment.js for internationalizing dates. You Probably Don't Need Moment.js Anymore. ![]() Recently, Chrome Dev Tools started showing recommendations for replacing Moment for the size alone. Libraries like Luxon (and others) take advantage of this, reducing or removing the need to ship your own data files. Modern web browsers (and Node.js) expose internationalization and time zone support via the Intl object, codified as ECMA-402. If one needs internationalization or time zone support, Moment can get quite large. Moment doesn't work well with modern "tree shaking" algorithms, so it tends to increase the size of web application bundles. Since this has already been accomplished in other libraries, we feel that it is more important to retain the mutable API.Īnother common argument against using Moment in modern applications is its size. We address it in our usage guidance but it still comes as a surprise to most new users.Ĭhanging Moment to be immutable would be a breaking change for every one of the projects that use it.Ĭreating a "Moment v3" that was immutable would be a tremendous undertaking and would make Moment a different library entirely. This is a common source of complaints about Moment. Given how many projects depend on it, we choose to prioritize stability over new features.Īs an example, consider that Moment objects are mutable. Unfortunately, none of the tested devices provide any space for the 1.75 mm burr, mainly due to the large diameter of the transparent sleeve. It seems that all 7 Fr devices cooperate with the 1.50 mm burr without any problems. The above-mentioned extensions that provide friction could be recommended only in bail-out situations or vessels that are not able to accept 7 Fr devices. The only extension which works with the 1.25 mm burr is the Guidezilla 6 Fr. One should note that aorta or large arterial vessel kinking may lead to the burr getting stuck. Of course, in in vivo circumstances, it could lead to problems with burr advancement. Two of the 6 Fr extensions (Guideliner and Guidon) are able to host the 1.25 mm burr but with perceptible friction. Theoretically, all extensions should be well fitted with a 1.25 mm burr, but in our tests two of them failed. Using commercially available extensions and two sizes of rotablation burr (1.25 and 1.50 mm) we found that there is a mismatch between producer declaration regarding inner size of the device and possibility of burr advancement deep into the extension. In our daily practice, we have faced this situation quite often, but several attempts during coronary angioplasty failed because of burr friction or getting stuck as well as mismatching of these two components. To our best knowledge, this is the first report comparing different guide catheter extensions with respect to feasibility of rotational atherectomy burr deliverability. The idea to use guiding catheter expansion to allow rotational atherectomy to be performed in a distal coronary lesion or increase guiding catheter support is not new. In this scenario, the operator should safely advance the burr as far as possible and start the rotablation at the closest point to the lesion. ![]() One knows that non-significant calcifications along the artery may affect the risk of the burr getting stuck if delivered during “dyna mode”. Of course, for many distal locations, it is too short to reach the lesion if the operator parks the burr just outside the guiding catheter. So far, the commercially available system for high speed rotational atherectomy has used a special advancer that allows one to perform a movement of about 7 cm. Limited technical features of rotational atherectomy were a significant hindrance to using it for this location. Calcified distal coronary lesion treated by coronary angioplasty remains a huge challenge for every interventional cardiologist. ![]() Headroom is good and the floor is almost flat – no big intrusive tunnel, so that’s nice. The outboard seats are very comfortable and have the ability to recline. You’ll find three seats back there – along with 3 seatbelts and 2 headrests. You can cover the cargo space with a soft, retractable tonneau cover, there’s a handy cargo net that spans the width of the space, and you’ll find a 12V plug for your convenience. The rear seats fold (not quite flat) in a 60/40 split to make it much, much bigger – 1803 Liters/63.7 cubic feet. Headlights are automatic, and of course you get GM’s OnStar system as well as a HomeLink garage door opener. Of course, everything is powered – door locks, mirrors, windows (although strangely, not auto-up) and the sunroof overhead. There’s a sea of buttons below the screen, handling media, nav and phone functions, and then even more of them for the automatic dual-zone climate control system. Hey, if you’re one of those people complaining that there aren’t enough hard buttons in modern cars, you’ll be ecstatic in the Equinox. The Pioneer sound system sounds very good and feeds off of a myriad of sources. The center stack starts with a mid-sized touchscreen, which handles media, navigation, phone, vehicle settings and the back-up camera. Behind it sits a set of large gauges, separated by GM’s horrible-to-look-at but very useful driver information screen, which offers good data on fuel consumption, trip meters, etc. It has controls for cruise, media, driver assistance stuff and phone/handsfree goodies. The manually-adjustable steering wheel has a really thick rim, and seems as though it has a large diameter. ![]() ![]() The interior is spacious, and headroom in the front is stellar. With that said, I do like the styling of the dash. There are no soft-touch plastic surfaces anywhere on the dash or the console. The materials in the Equinox are nice to look at, but definitely behind the curve in terms of quality and feeling. There’s a minor step up into the cabin, and into the comfortable, heated leather (with perforated inserts) seats. If you’re into towing, you won’t do a lot of it – the Equinox has a 3500 pound maximum, enough for small trailers. My mileage, after a week of driving in fresh snow, sometimes economically, occasionally with a heavy foot? A sobering 15.3 L/100 km – that’s the magic crossover point, because it’s also 15.3 mpg. It’s rated at 13.2 L/100 km (18 mpg) in the city and 8.4 L/100 km (28 mpg) on the highway. It’s not rocket science – a vehicle that weighs over 4000 pounds and all that power? Yeah, it doesn’t come cheaply. All this power makes its way to all four corners through a 6-speed automatic transmission. It cranks out a mighty 301 HP at 6300 RPM and a stout 272 lb.ft of torque at 4800 RPM. Chevy did a good job with the meaty dual exhaust pipes – it adds a touch of menace, and it has the balls and the sound to back those up. I like that the vehicle, while not compact, keeps a smaller profile and never looks like a big truck. I enjoyed how the fenders have been flared out to give it some character, and how most of the lines have remained smooth and inoffensive. There’s plenty of chrome here – most of it is nice, but I thought the super high-polish 18″ chrome wheels – which are an expensive option and shiny enough that you can use them as shaving mirrors – were almost too blingy. I like Chevy’s new face – it’s simple and strong. I’m not the biggest fan of the slightly hunchbacked look from some angles, but overall the styling really appealed to me. Though recognizable as an Equinox, the latest one takes things upscale and looks more mature and refined than ever before. You can get into an Equinox for CDN $26,935, but this was an upper trim level (not the top though) – an all-wheel drive LT with the biggest motor available, and it priced out at a slightly shocking CDN $42,595. ![]() Chevrolet’s Equinox shares its bones with a number of corporate cousins, but has managed to eke out a loyal following of its own over the years. ![]() Roger Ballen and Die Antwoord: I Fink U Freeky was published by Random House Prestel in July 2013.
